How I Spent One Dreamy Day in Abu Dhabi—With Chase Travel Perks

Updated: Jun 18

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

ree

I kicked off 2025 with a bucket list trip to the United Arab Emirates; and wow, what a dream it was. From the towering skyscrapers to the rich cultural experiences, my first visit to the UAE was truly unforgettable. While I spent most of my time exploring the vibrant city of Dubai, I knew I couldn’t leave the country without seeing Abu Dhabi. Ideally, you’d want more than a day to take it all in, but if you’re short on time like I was; don’t worry, I’ve crafted the perfect one-day itinerary to help you make the most of it, thanks to the travel perks I unlocked through the Chase app.

Best time to visit UAE

According to most travel sources (and a quick Google search), the best time to visit Abu Dhabi is from April to May or September to October. During these months, the temperatures are more moderate, making it easier to explore comfortably, and you’re likely to score better travel deals, too. I personally visited in January, and while the days were pleasantly warm, the evenings got pretty chilly, so I’d definitely recommend packing a light jacket if you plan to visit during that time. Keep in mind that December through March can also be a bit pricier, since it’s considered part of the peak season. If you’re thinking about visiting in the summer, I’d strongly suggest reconsidering (unless you love the heat, course) temperatures can reach extreme highs, and sightseeing in that kind of heat can be unbearable.

Maximizing Chase Travel Perks for my Abu Dhabi Day Trip

I booked my entire day trip to Abu Dhabi right through the Chase Travel portal in the Chase app, and it was such a smooth process. There were so many options to choose from—ranging from guided tours to private excursions, all at different price points to fit your budget. The best part? You can use your Chase Ultimate Rewards points to cover part (or all) of your booking… wink wink. I used my Chase Sapphire Preferred card, which is hands down my favorite travel card. If you don’t already have it, I highly recommend checking it out. You’ll earn points on travel and dining, and the perks are so worth it. Apply Here.

Pick Your Adventure with Chase Travel

One of the things I loved about using the Chase Travel portal was the wide variety of excursions available for Abu Dhabi. Whether you're into culture, adventure, or luxury experiences, there's something for every kind of traveler. You can find guided tours of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, day trips that include the Louvre Abu Dhabi, and even combo packages that cover both Abu Dhabi and Dubai highlights. The app makes it easy to filter by price, duration, and activity type. No matter your travel style, the Chase Travel portal has plenty of ways to explore Abu Dhabi in a way that works for you.

Getting from Dubai to Abu Dhabi

Getting from Dubai to Abu Dhabi is pretty straightforward. If you book a guided tour, transportation to and from Abu Dhabi is usually included and super convenient if you want to sit back and relax. But if you’re exploring on your own, renting a car is a great option. The drive takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic. There are also a few Salik toll gates along the way (AED 4 per gate), so make sure your rental car is set up for toll payments or ask the rental company how it works. The route is easy to navigate and offers scenic desert views along the way.

Before You Go: Grand Mosque Guidelines for Men & Women

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is one of Abu Dhabi’s most breathtaking landmarks, and visiting it requires observing a strict dress code and etiquette. For women, modest attire is mandatory - arms, legs, and hair must be fully covered. You’ll need to wear a long-sleeved top, loose-fitting pants or a floor-length skirt, and bring a scarf to cover your head. Men should also wear long pants and avoid sleeveless shirts.

Rules are strictly enforced, and visitors who do not comply may be denied entry. In addition to dressing modestly, be mindful of the mosque’s peaceful atmosphere - loud talking, inappropriate behavior, or posing in disrespectful ways for photos is not allowed. Remember, this is an active place of worship, so showing cultural respect is key to a meaningful visit!
